Security forces on Wednesday carried out a surprise cordon-and-search operation in the Abi Guzar area of Srinagar, just three days ahead of the scheduled visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the Valley, officials said.
According to officials, all entry and exit points to the Abi Guzar locality, which houses several residential and commercial establishments, were temporarily sealed during the operation. Teams conducted searches of multiple premises while passersby were frisked as part of routine security checks.
The operation was lifted after the checks were completed, and no arrests were made, officials added.
Authorities said such surprise operations are part of standard security measures to maintain law and order and ensure heightened preparedness ahead of high-profile visits.
