Rajouri, Jul 31 (BuzzBytes): Security forces in Rajouri district destroyed a suspected militant hideout during an operation in the forest area and recovered ration and cooking utensils from the site.
Officials said the operation was carried out on Thursday evening in the Bhangayi forest area of Thanamandi during an area domination and search exercise.
Officials said security forces tracked down the suspected hideout in a dense and difficult forest stretch. The hideout had been built amid thick bushes and trees, making it difficult to spot from a distance.
During the search, security personnel recovered two packets of rice, instant noodles, a knife, a lighter, plastic sheets, an old blanket, a gas stove nozzle, two candles and a plastic bottle, among other items.
Officials said the recovered items indicate that the hideout had been used by someone for temporary stay in the forest area. However, it was not immediately clear how long the hideout had been in use or who had been staying there.
Security forces have widened the search operation in the area, combing the surrounding forest stretches to trace any further concealed material or suspects. As of the last update, the search operation in the area was continuing. Security agencies have intensified surveillance and area domination operations in the forests to pre-empt any militant activity—(BuzzBytes)
