SKUAST-K Initiates Online Training on ‘Food Processing and J&K Cluster Development.

Srinagar, December 5: buzzbytes. Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir launched an online training program titled ‘Food Processing and Development of Cluster for Specific Products of J&K’ on Monday. The training, organized by SKUAST-K’s Directorate of Extension in partnership with the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, aims to enhance awareness and skills in the food processing sector.

During the inaugural address, Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension, emphasized SKUAST-K’s role in providing innovative technologies for winter vegetable cultivation in Kashmir. He underscored the importance of improving post-harvest practices and increasing processing in agriculture and horticulture. Prof Makhdoomi assured full support from the KVK network in raising awareness about packaging, utility, and marketing benefits among stakeholders.

Dr Shalendra, Deputy Director at MANAGE Hyderabad, provided an overview of the training program, highlighting the Cluster Strategy to boost quality and production. He also discussed Ministry of Agriculture schemes and the Extension’s role in supporting entrepreneurs in food processing.

The inaugural event was attended by Prof Afshan Gul, Prof Purshotam, Dr Farahnaz Rasool, Deputy Director Trainings, and Deputy Director SAMETI, Dr Rusheeba.
