In a recent legal development, the Srinagar court has mandated the registration of an FIR against a Banking Associate of Jammu and Kashmir Bank. The order stems from accusations made by Dr Jehangir Ahmad Bhat, a radiologist, who claims that the Banking Associate, with purported malafide intention, disclosed confidential details of his salary account.

Dr Bhat asserts that the Banking Associate, entrusted with maintaining account secrecy, committed a breach of trust by divulging sensitive information. The radiologist further alleges a surge in spam communications over several months, suspecting a connection to the Banking Associate’s actions.

Following Dr Bhat’s complaint, the police received instructions to investigate. The court, after examining the police report, concluded that a cognizable offense had taken place. It directed the SHO of the concerned police station to register an FIR against the Banking Associate under relevant legal provisions.

The court emphasized the seriousness of the matter by highlighting that the bank itself acknowledged constituting a disciplinary authority against the accused employee. The SHO has been directed to provide a compliance report, clarifying whether the FIR has been registered. This development underscores the legal ramifications facing the accused Banking Associate amid allegations of breaching confidentiality.
