“SSP Srinagar Shakeup: Ashish Kumar Mishra Takes Charge

JAMMU AND KASHMIR, OCTOBER 18: In a recent development, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has relieved Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal, from his duties. Ashish Kumar Mishra, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the AGMUT cadre, is set to assume the role of SSP Srinagar.

The official order, issued by RK Goyal, states, “In pursuance of the approval of Competent Authority for pre-mature repatriation of Shri Rakesh Balwal, IPS (MA:2012) from AGMUT Cadre, to his parent cadre i.e. Manipur cadre, the Officer is relieved from the Union territory of Jammu Kashmir, to enable him to join his parent cadre.”

Additionally, the order reveals that Ashish Kumar Mishra, an IPS officer from the AGMUT:13 cadre, who was previously serving as the Senior Superintendent of Police in Anantnag, is being transferred to Srinagar to take on the role of SSP.

Furthermore, Shri G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, an IPS officer from the AGMUT:14 cadre, currently serving as AIG (CIV) at Police Headquarters, will replace Ashish Kumar Mishra as the Senior Superintendent of Police in Anantnag.

This administrative reshuffling indicates a significant change in the leadership of law enforcement in Srinagar, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the region’s security and policing efforts.”
