The Blessed Life of Ghous-e-Azam – Sultan of All Awliyaah
The life of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani, known as Ghous-e-Azam or Ghous-ul-Azam, is marked by extraordinary events and divine blessings from the moment of his birth. Born on the first of Ramadan in 470 Hijri, his arrival was not just the birth of a child but the emergence of a spiritual giant, as foretold for centuries. This son, he revealed, would be beloved to both the Prophet and Almighty Allah, and he would hold the highest rank among all the Awliyaah and Aqtaab of the universe.

Upon his birth, a remarkable and divine sign became evident. Hazrat Ghous-e-Azam bore the sacred imprint of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) footprint on his shoulder. This imprint was seen as evidence of his divine favor and sainthood. Almighty Allah also conveyed blessings to his parents through a dream, assuring them that their son would be the Sultan-ul-Awliyaah, and those who opposed him would be led astray.
Ramadan Fasting from Birth
Hazrat Ghous-e-Azam was born on the night before the holy month of Ramadan. His devotion to Allah began from a very young age. During the entire month of Ramadan, he did not consume any milk between Sehri (pre-dawn meal) and Iftaar (breaking of fast). In essence, he fasted from the day of his birth. His mother noted that he never cried for milk during the day, only partaking in milk at the time of Iftaar.
Divine Calling
Hazrat Ghous-e-Azam’s childhood was unlike that of other children. He did not engage in playful activities but instead immersed himself in the remembrance of Almighty Allah. Whenever he contemplated joining other children in play, a voice from an invisible source would call out to him, saying, “Come towards (Me), dear blessed.” Initially, this voice frightened him, prompting him to seek refuge with his mother. However, with time, he grew accustomed to the divine call, sacrificing playtime to dwell in the worship and remembrance of Allah.
