Landslide debris and shooting stones cleared from Ramban stretch, bringing relief to hundreds of stranded passengers on Valley’s sole all-weather link

Jammu, Jul 25 (BuzzBytes News Desk): Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) resumed on Saturday after restoration agencies cleared landslide debris and shooting stones from several affected locations in Ramban district. According to Kashmir News Trust, officials said road restoration teams worked continuously to remove debris deposited by landslides triggered by recent heavy rainfall, enabling the reopening of the highway for vehicular movement. Traffic authorities said the resumption has brought relief to hundreds of stranded passengers and transporters affected by the closure of the Valley’s only all-weather road link with the rest of the country. Light motor vehicles, including private cars and passenger vehicles, have been allowed to ply in both directions between Jammu and Srinagar, while heavy motor vehicles and other goods carriers are being released in a phased manner from Udhampur towards Srinagar depending on weather and road conditions. Commuters have been advised to adhere to traffic regulations, follow traffic police instructions and check the latest advisories before commencing their journey, as restoration work continues at vulnerable stretches and weather conditions may continue to influence movement.
