Distinguished guests, including Chief Ministers of Assam and Tripura, joined the ceremony through video-conferencing, highlighting the national importance of this achievement. The inaugural journey commenced with the departure of the first Vistadome coach train from Srinagar Station to Banihal.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the transformative changes that have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir over the past nine years. The region has seen rapid development, particularly after the abrogation of Article 370. Notably, Jammu and Kashmir hosted G20 meetings, and significant progress has been made in the realm of railways, including the completion of projects like the Chenab Bridge and various tunnels.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing Vistadome train services in the Kashmir Valley, stating that it symbolizes the availability of facilities found in developed countries for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative elevates the travel experience for both residents and tourists, with a profound impact expected on tourism, economic growth, and cultural enrichment.

Vistadome coaches, known for their European-style design, feature innovative elements such as large glass windows, glass roofs, observation lounges, and rotatable seats for passengers, providing unrestricted views of the scenic landscapes. Additional amenities include automated sliding doors and bio-toilets.

The Times of India describes the Vistadome experience as a game-changer for train travel, offering passengers a comfortable and immersive journey. Vistadome coaches were initially introduced in 2018 on the Mumbai-Madgaon route and have since expanded to 33 coaches across 23 trains nationwide. These coaches are ideal for routes passing through tourist destinations, making sightseeing an integral part of the travel experience.

The Ministry of Railways announced the features of Vistadome coaches, including Wi-Fi-based passenger information systems, mobile charging sockets, entertainment systems, and wider entrance doors for persons with disabilities. Additionally, the coaches are equipped with a CCTV system for onboard surveillance, modular toilets with advanced features, and automatic fire detection.

This remarkable development represents the beginning of a new era in Jammu & Kashmir, as the region is set to connect with the rest of India through rail in December. The introduction of the Vanda Barath train further underscores the commitment to enhancing connectivity and promoting tourism in the Union Territory.

With Vistadome train services, Jammu and Kashmir not only opens its doors to travelers but also provides a world-class travel experience that promises to leave a lasting impression on all who embark on this remarkable journey.
