New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Applying weather forecasting techniques currently used in India could help better predict floods and landslides in Sri Lanka, according to a study.
The finding, published on Thursday in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, has the potential to help communities better prepare for extreme rainfall in the South Asian island extremely vulnerable to floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall.
In May 2017, over 150 people were killed after Sri Lanka experienced flooding triggered by monsoon rains, the researchers said.
