The Meteorological Department predicts a noteworthy improvement in weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir. While plains experienced light to moderate rain, the higher and middle reaches saw light snowfall in the last 24 hours

According to a meteorological department official, “Significant improvement in weather is expected towards the afternoon over most places of J&K and dry weather thereafter,” for today’s forecast.
From December 2-7, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy, followed by partly to generally cloudy weather from December 8-10. There is also a projected fall in minimum temperature by 3-5°C starting from December 2.
Snowfall was reported in various regions, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Kupwara’s Karnah, Shopian, and other upper reaches in the Valley. Most parts of the Valley, including Srinagar, experienced rainfall.
Temperature Update:
- Srinagar: Recorded a low of 4.5°C, showing a decrease from the previous night. Temperature is 5.4°C above normal for this time of the year.
- Qazigund: Minimum of 2.2°C, 6.0°C above normal.
- Pahalgam: Low of 0.5°C, 3.9°C above normal.
- Kokernag: Minimum of 2.0°C, 2.4°C above normal.
- Kupwara: Recorded a low of 2.6°C, 3.7°C above normal.
- Gulmarg: Marked a low of minus 1.8°C, 1.3°C above normal.
- Jammu: Minimum of 10.7°C, above normal by 0.4°C for the winter capital of J&K.
The weatherman assures a positive shift in weather patterns, providing respite from the recent precipitation.
