Women’s Day Celebrated at GCOE in Dogri

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Sahitya Akademi, in collaboration with Government Degree College of Education (GCOE) Jammu, organized a symposium on contemporary issues and challenges in women’s writing in Dogri literature. Professor Sucheta Pathania, Head of Dogri Department at Jammu University, presided over the symposium.
The event featured three sessions. The inaugural session included a keynote address by Dr. Sushma Rani Rajput, with welcome remarks and an introduction by Mohan Singh, Convener of Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi. Professor Shalini Rana presented a vote of thanks.
The first session, chaired by Dr. Neelam Sarin, focused on contemporary issues and challenges in Dogri stories and poetry written by women. The second session, presided over by Smt Usha Kiran, delved into challenges in Dogri prose and novels written by women. Papers were presented by scholars, including Smt. Nirmal Vikram Jain, Dr. Radha Rani, Smt Savtanterta Mehra, and Dr. Sushma Choudhary.
The symposium received praise from a large audience of scholars, writers, and students. It provided a unique platform for Dogri women writers to share the stage, discuss problems, and address challenges, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration under the auspices of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
