4th National Lok Adalat in Shopian Resolves 146 Cases Amicably

In adherence to the National Legal Service Authority calendar and under the guidance of J&K Legal Services Authority, the 4th National Lok Adalat took place at Shopian. Chaired by Riaz-Ul-Haq Mirza, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Session Judge) Shopian, the event unfolded in the court premises of District Court Complex Shopian.

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) constituted four benches for the National Lok Adalat, which saw participation not only from advocates but also from litigants and other prominent citizens.

A total of 176 cases covering recovery suits, traffic challans, civil cases, matrimonial cases, criminal compoundable cases, and other civil matters were taken up during the Lok Adalat. Impressively, 146 cases were resolved amicably, resulting in settlements amounting to Rs. 24,54,190.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone expressed satisfaction with the outcomes, stating that various cases and grievances were successfully settled during the Lok Adalat. He urged people to approach the DLSA Shopian with case particulars, facilitating further resolutions through mediation and conciliation in future Lok Adalats. The event highlighted the efficacy of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in providing swift and amicable resolutions to legal matters.
