Handwara Police Inaugurates T-20 Cricket Tournament Under Civic Action Programme

09 December Handwara, AADIL AKBAR: In a commendable initiative under the Civic Action Programme, Handwara Police launched the *Martyr PSI Arshid Ashraf Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament* at Bakiakher sports ground, Handwara. The tournament will feature the participation of 16 cricket teams and clubs from various areas within the Police District.

The inauguration match witnessed enthusiastic participation from district players, with many cricket teams expressing their desire to join the tournament. Eventually, 16 teams were shortlisted to compete in the event. The selected playing teams extended their wholehearted gratitude to Handwara Police for organizing the tournament.

During the inaugural interaction with the teams, SSP Handwara conveyed his appreciation and best wishes to both teams participating in the opening match. He emphasized the importance of sports as a medium for young and budding players to explore their thoughts, imagination, and talents. SSP Handwara also urged players to exhibit good sportsmanship, discipline, and positive behavior towards each other.

The inaugural match featured a face-off between Galoora-11 and Bakiakher-11 at Bakiakher sports ground, Handwara. The primary objective of organizing such events is to foster brotherhood, love, and peace while diverting youth from the dangers of drug addiction. This T-20 Cricket Tournament serves as a platform to engage the community positively and promote healthy competition among the youth.
