In the past 77 Years of Independence from British rule, the Nation of India has risen in every field and sector to be dubbed as one of the greatest Nations of the world.
Unfurling the Tiranga 30 kms above sea level
As a matter of fact, Space Kidz India (SKI) has successfully unfurled the G20 flag near the edge of space after flying it on an atmospheric balloon. The flag was unfurled at an altitude of 30 kilometers above sea level by students, who had also launched a payload on the mission.
This achievement comes on the heels of last year’s feat when the organisation that works with kids in field of science, hoisted the Indian flag at an altitude of 30 km to mark the country’s 76th Independence Day.
Tiranga at Red Fort
It is a proud moment that
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shall hoist the national flag on the 77th Independence Day on Tuesday from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort. He will create a record of sorts. He will equal his immediate predecessor Manmohan Singh’s record of hoisting the tricolour for 10 consecutive times.
The record for hoisting the maximum number of times rests with first PM Jawaharlal Nehru. Between August 15, 1947 – when he hoisted the tricolour for the very first time – and May 27, 1964 – when he died in harness – Nehru raised the national flag for 17 consecutive times.
Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to change the display picture on their social media accounts to the Tricolour in the spirit of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah kicked off ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Ahmedabad on Sunday. India is celebrating the completion of 77 years of independence with ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’.
Brief History of our struggle for freedom
The British Empire ruled India for 150 years through the East India Company, the trading company that was set up in Surat, Gujarat in 1619.
Post their victory at the Battle of Plassey, the East India Company, in 1757, took control of the nation.
Freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, Chandra Shekhar Azad, and many others did their bid and fought for India’s independence.
In 1947, the Quit India Movement resulted in the British leaving the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the country in celebrating the 77th Independence Day from the iconic Red Fort in Delhi on Tuesday. As part of the celebrations, around 1,800 people from different vocations and their spouses have been invited as special guests.
These special guests include over 400 sarpanches of more than 660 villages; 250 from Farmer Producer Organisations’ scheme; 50 participants each of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana; 50 Shram Yogis (construction workers) of the Central Vista Project, including the new Parliament building; 50 each Khadi workers, those involved in construction of border roads, making of Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana as well as 50 each primary school teachers, nurses and fishermen.
Paying respect to our freedom fighters
This day we pay tribute to those freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the sake of the motherland. We pay respect to those who made it a free nation for generations to come. We thank those men and women who did not bother about their happiness but instead thought of the honour of their mother country.
They are the ones who gave us the country we live in, they gave us the free air we breathe in, they gave us the scented soil we are proud of, and they gave us the dignity we deserve as citizens of the Indian subcontinent.
