Jammu, February 19: In a significant move, the Administrative Council (AC), chaired by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, has reinstated the provision for a ‘Waiting List’ in government recruitments, overturning its earlier decision from September 7, 2023. The decision aims to streamline the recruitment process and enhance efficiency in filling up vacancies. The meeting, attended by Advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Principal Secretary Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, saw the AC withdrawing amendments made to various recruitment rules, including the J&K Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment Rules, 2010, and the J&K Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2018.The AC also granted a one-time exemption to recruiting agencies, allowing them to draw up wait lists within six months for select lists issued since the previous decision. This exemption is subject to the condition that the wait list(s) are drawn within the validity period of the select list, and resultant vacancies due to non-joining of selected candidates have not been re-advertised.This decision is expected to facilitate the timely filling of vacancies, addressing concerns of delays in re-referral of vacancies and reducing the time consumed in subsequent selections. Additionally, it offers candidates the opportunity to secure employment before reaching the upper-age limit, contributing to a more efficient and responsive recruitment process.
