Administrative Secretary Chairs Mega Public Darbar in Handwara, Focuses on Development and Public Outreach

Handwara 23/01/24:In a significant move towards addressing public grievances and fostering development, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Administrative Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department J&K, chaired a Mega Public Darbar at the Town Hall in Handwara.The event saw the participation of key figures, including Irfan Sultan Pandithpori, Chairman of the District Development Council Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, and other prominent officials. Representatives from various sectors and a substantial number of locals were also in attendance.Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah expressed optimism about the growth and development aspirations of the Kupwara district. He highlighted the burgeoning tourism potential, naming attractions like Lolab, Bungas, Keran, and Teetwal. The Secretary commended the youth’s shift towards entrepreneurship, identifying it as a vital catalyst for economic progress.Dr. Shah emphasized the potential of GMC Handwara, envisioning it as one of the top GMCs in the Union Territory. He underlined the incoming influx of students from across the country and the need for accelerated progress in the construction of the GMC building.Irfan Sultan Pandithpori, Chairman of the District Development Council Kupwara, urged a swifter pace in the construction of the GMC building and addressed the shortage of timber in the forest depots of Kupwara district.Ms. Ayushi Sudan, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, highlighted the importance of the Public Darbar in bridging gaps between stakeholders and facilitating constructive feedback for policy formulation and implementation.Vice Chairman Haji Farooq Mir expressed hope for increased attention to health projects in Handwara. He specifically called for the upgradation of SDH Kupwara to a District Hospital and expedited work on GMC Handwara.Several completed infrastructure projects, including the Panchayat Bhawan at Dudipora, a health center at Bakiaakar, and the upgradation of Palpora-Khanpora road, were inaugurated during the event. The public expressed gratitude to the District Administration for organizing the Mega Public Darbar.Dr. Abid Rashid Shah, along with dignitaries, inspected stalls and interacted with officers and beneficiaries. Later, he visited GMC Handwara’s makeshift arrangements and directed engineers to expedite work to ensure a seamless experience for patients and staff.The public lauded the District Administration for providing a platform to voice grievances and accelerate the resolution of developmental issues through such Mega Public Darbars.
