Srinagar: President of Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party, Altaf Bukhari, categorically states that there is no possibility of supporting former Member of Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls for Baramulla. Emphasizing his commitment to his party, Bukhari asserts that he will not extend support to any candidate outside the Apni Party.

Addressing queries about potential support for Baig, Bukhari firmly states, “Altaf Bukhari wouldn’t support anyone who is not part of his party.”

During the last Lok Sabha polls, Baig secured 5160 votes for PDP from Baramulla and Sangrama assembly segments. Despite his efforts, the constituencies delivered modest results for PDP.

Baig, who had resigned from PDP in November 2020 over seat-sharing issues, had joined Peoples Conference, only to be distanced from the party later on. In June 2021, during an all-party meeting in New Delhi, Baig attempted to deter Kashmiri leaders from raising the issue of Article 370, citing its sub-judice status. The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Baramulla seem to be devoid of Apni Party’s support for Baig.
