Rajouri, January 30, 2024 – In a strong critique, Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana has placed blame on the historical bonhomie between Jawaharlal Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah for the perpetual divide along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking at the Shakti Vandan Workshop in Rajouri, Rana argued that the ceasefire enforced on January 1, 1949, was a result of emotional decision-making, impacting the nation’s political landscape and causing significant repercussions in the Rajouri-Poonch belt.Rana asserted that the ceasefire decision was aimed at safeguarding the political interests of the National Conference, hindering the region’s potential to play a central role in the state’s politics. He accused the political elite, particularly the National Conference and Congress, of perpetuating divisions between different regions for their political gains. The BJP leader cautioned against the alleged attempts by these political parties to create fissures and destabilize the situation in the region. He emphasized the positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing them to the BJP’s commitment to address regional disparities and promote development.Rana further criticized political parties, including Congress, National Conference, and PDP, claiming that they thrive on maintaining a state of unrest and opposing initiatives aimed at empowering the people. He urged the public to remain vigilant against such attempts and highlighted the dividends of peace, progress, and economic activities in the region over the past four years. The BJP leader concluded by affirming the commitment of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to steer Jammu and Kashmir towards a new era of peace, progress, and development, despite the challenges faced over the past three decades.Prominent party members, including BJP District President Dinesh Sharma, Former Member of Parliament Ch Talib Hussain, and DDC Darhal Iqbal Malik, echoed similar sentiments during the workshop. The event also showcased the party’s focus on nation-building and development in the Union Territory.
