The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting searches at six locations in connection with the alleged corruption flagged by former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik in the awarding of the Rs 2,200-crore civil work contract for the Kiru Hydro Power Project in Kishtwar in 2019.
Details:
- The searches are taking place in three locations, including premises associated with Kanwaljeet Singh Duggal of Mainstream IT Solutions Private Limited and D P Singh.
- Premises in Delhi (three locations), Shimla, Noida, and Chandigarh are being covered during this operation.
- This marks the fourth round of searches in the case, following operations on April 21 and July 6 last year and May 17 this year.
- Former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik had alleged that he was offered a Rs 300-crore bribe for clearing files related to the project.
- The case involves malpractices in the award of the Rs 2,200-crore civil works contract for the Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project in 2019.
- Individuals named in the FIR include former chairman of Chenab Valley Power Projects (Private) Limited, Navin Kumar Chaudhary, and former officials M S Babu, M K Mittal, and Arun Kumar Mishra, along with Patel Engineering Limited.
- The FIR alleges discrepancies in the tendering process and the final awarding of the contract to Patel Engineering Limited despite decisions for re-tendering.
The ongoing investigation aims to unravel the details of the alleged graft and malpractices surrounding the Kiru Hydro Power Project contract awarded in 2019.
