Chilly Nights Grip Jammu and Kashmir – Sub-Zero Temperatures in Gulmarg and Pahalgam

As winter tightens its grip, Gulmarg and Pahalgam experienced sub-zero nights, creating a picturesque winter landscape in Jammu and Kashmir. The meteorological department reported that Srinagar saw a low of 4.8°C, maintaining a temperature 5.7°C above the seasonal norm. Qazigund and Kupwara also recorded temperatures higher than usual.

Pahalgam, the famed resort in south Kashmir, witnessed a low of minus 0.4°C, signaling the onset of the winter freeze. Kokernag, another location in south Kashmir, reported a minimum of 2.2°C, deviating by 2.8°C from the normal temperature. North Kashmir’s Gulmarg, renowned for its skiing, recorded a low of minus 3.3°C, adding to the region’s wintry charm.

Jammu, the winter capital, maintained a minimum temperature of 11.2°C, slightly above normal. The meteorological department anticipates partly cloudy weather from December 2-7, with a subsequent increase in cloud cover from December 8-10. Additionally, a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures by 3-5°C is expected starting December 2.
