BuzzBytes 16 March Srinagar:In a recent development, controversy engulfs Jammu and Kashmir’s health department over the selection process of medical staff for Haj 2024. An order, marked with DO No .Z.3220/03/2023-SAS-II(EMR), initially forwarded to the Health Secretary, sparked outrage as it called for the engagement of doctors and paramedical staff specifically for Haj medical care. However, subsequent revelations have unveiled a murky selection process, with accusations of favoritism and bribery rampant. The order, with Director Order No. PS/DHSK/Circular/2023/7697-7748, instructed the exclusion of individuals who had previously performed the same duty, ostensibly to provide equal opportunities.

However, despite this directive, reports indicate that certain doctors, who had already served continuously for the last six months, managed to secure spots on the final list. Allegations of bribery within the civil secretariat health department have surfaced, pointing to potential corruption in the selection process.Adding fuel to the fire, it has come to light that individuals numbered 2, 4, 50, 61, 67, 68, 72, 87, and 119 on the final list have all performed the same duty a minimum of two times and a maximum of six times in previous Haj missions. This revelation raises serious concerns about the fairness of the selection process and suggests a possible violation of the order’s instructions. Moreover, the released list of selected medical professionals bears a concerning discrepancy. While some doctors have indeed served multiple times in previous Haj missions, their records on the publicly available list indicate no prior deployments. This inconsistency further undermines the transparency and integrity of the selection process, casting a shadow over the credibility of the entire operation. As stakeholders demand accountability and fair play, authorities are under increasing pressure to investigate the allegations thoroughly and ensure that the Haj medical staff selection process is conducted with utmost transparency and integrity.
