Srinagar, Feb 15 (BuzzBytes): Custodian General J&K, Rishpal Singh, conducted an extensive tour of evacuee property assets and land situated at Peerbagh, Hyderpora, Sanath Nagar, Panthachowk, Boulevard, Kathidarwaza Rainawari, and other places in the Kashmir division.Accompanied by Deputy Custodian (HQ), Custodian Evacuee Property Kashmir, Assistant Engineer E P Department Kashmir, and field staff, the Custodian General inspected Evacuee property flats, convention centers, marriage halls, and shopping complexes in Hyderpora Srinagar. Various tenant delegations met the Custodian General with their demands and issues during the visit.The Custodian General addressed some of the issues on the spot and directed the Custodian Kashmir to address other genuine demands of the tenants promptly. A review meeting with officers of Evacuee Property Department Kashmir was also convened.The Custodian General assessed the functioning of the Evacuee Property Department in Kashmir and reviewed the action taken on previous decisions. He expressed satisfaction over achievements, including the reconciliation of figures of notified evacuee land in consultation with the Revenue Department and the retrieval of a significant chunk of evacuee land.The Custodian General instructed officers to act swiftly on receiving reports of encroachment of evacuee land, collaborating with Revenue and Police departments. He emphasized liaison with the district administration for proper management and safeguarding of evacuee property.The Custodian General called for identifying evacuee land suitable for commercial purposes and other lands that can be fenced with signboards to prevent further encroachment. He suggested putting non-viable land for departmental use to e-auction, utilizing the department’s developed e-auction portal.During the visit, a group of employees raised concerns about the non-conduct of the Departmental Promotion Committee meeting since 2017. The Custodian General assured them that he would take up the matter with the administrative department for the early finalization of recruitment rules, facilitating promotions based on seniority, integrity, and performance.Lastly, the Custodian General emphasized scanning all records up to the end of February 2024 and completing the geo-tagging of all Evacuee Property within 15 days. He also highlighted the need for skill development of employees through skill enhancement sessions and orientation programs
