DC Ramban Chairs Meeting to Evaluate Progress in PWD and PMGSY Sectors.

Deputy Commissioner, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, led a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the financial and physical achievements recorded under the Public Works Department (PWD) and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) sectors in the district.

In the examination of PWD (R&B) Division Ramban and Banihal progress, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for close coordination among stakeholder departments to overcome local challenges hindering developmental projects. He urged Executive Engineers to collaborate with SDMs and other administrative officers to promptly resolve bottlenecks affecting the execution of social sector projects. The Deputy Commissioner instructed joint inspections of projects by District and Sectoral officers to make on-the-spot decisions.

Addressing the forest clearance issues related to road and social sector projects, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the DFOs to personally monitor and directed executive agencies to ensure sustainable development, emphasizing the preservation of forests and natural resources.

Highlighting the importance of meeting both physical and financial targets for developmental projects, the Deputy Commissioner directed executing agencies to achieve 100% completion against set goals.

Taking stock of progress on UT Capex, District Capex, Area Development Fund of DDC, BDC, PRIs, and other schemes, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of timely completion to meet fixed targets.

During a PowerPoint presentation, the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Ramban, reported on 65 roads covering 149 kms, along with major building projects. The Deputy Commissioner was apprised of projects including a motorable bridge over River Chenab, multi-storey bus stand at Ramban, and various educational and residential constructions.

In the PMGSY sector, it was reported that out of 73 sanctioned projects, 48, including bridges, have been completed, and work on the remaining projects is progressing.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Rajinder Sharma, ADC Harbans Lal Sharma, CPO Shakeeb Ahmad Rather, DFOs, Executive Engineers, and other key officials, collectively working towards achieving developmental milestones in the district.
