DDC Kupwara Drives Financial Inclusion and Employment Focus at DLRC Meeting

RAJA JAVID | January 24, 2024KUPWARA: Ms. Ayushi Sudan, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Kupwara, took the helm at the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting held at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex. The purpose was to assess the performance of line departments and banks in implementing various government schemes across the district.In her address, DDC Sudan stressed the importance of financial inclusion and the saturation of centrally sponsored schemes, particularly targeting marginalized community segments. She urged close coordination between banks and sponsoring agencies to ensure the broadest benefit to the community. The focus remained on generating employment, with a directive for enhanced collaboration between banks and line departments to meet the goals and targets of financial inclusion.DDC Sudan specifically instructed banks to expedite the disposal of financial assistance cases and mandated line departments to submit cases to respective bank branches promptly within the designated timeframe. Emphasizing youth employment as a top government priority, she called for heightened dedication from sponsoring agencies and banks to uplift the district’s youth.Highlighting the district’s overall performance for the fiscal year 2023-24 under the annual district credit plan, Lead District Manager, Kupwara, Mehboob Allahi Khan shared that achievements stood at ₹1354.15 Crores as of September 30, 2023, constituting 73% against the target of ₹1855.66 Crores. Priority sector advances reached ₹658.87 Crores, representing 40% against the target of ₹1629.82 Crore, while non-priority sector achievements reached ₹695.29 Crores, an outstanding 308% against the target of ₹225.84 Crores.The meeting reflected a proactive approach towards financial empowerment and employment generation in the district, aligning with the broader goals of sustainable development.
