DDC Kupwara Takes Stock of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin Implementation

Kupwara, October 03: Ayushi Sudan, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Kupwara, chaired a meeting with relevant officers to assess the progress of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) in the district.

During the meeting, the DC conducted a thorough evaluation of the status and execution of SBM-G and waste management plans in rural areas within the district.

Regarding the status of SBM-G Phase-II, the DDC was informed that 300 Segregation Sheds, 336 Community Soakage Pits, 232 Community Compost Pits, 14 Plastic Waste Management Units, and 44 CSCs (Common Service Centres) were initiated. Out of these, 184 Segregation Sheds, 188 Community Soakage Pits, 160 Community Compost Pits, 2 Plastic Waste Management Units, and 7 CSCs have already been completed.

Ayushi Sudan emphasized that SBM-G should be a top priority in the district and urged officers and field functionaries from the Rural Development Department to work in close coordination and synergy to ensure cleanliness in Kupwara’s villages. She also stressed the importance of raising awareness among the public about segregating solid and wet waste at the household level for effective waste management in rural areas.

Additionally, the DDC reviewed the Swachhta Pakhwada, which took place from September 15th to October 1st. It was reported that 26,802 people participated in 252 activities during the Pakhwada, resulting in the organization and closure of 4,644 events on October 1st.

The meeting was attended by officials including the ACD Kupwara, ACP, BDOs (Block Development Officers), Engineers from REW (Rural Engineering Wing), and other concerned individuals.
