DGP R.R Swain Reviews Railways Security and GRP Functioning During Headquarters Visit

Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Shri R.R Swain, conducted a comprehensive review of railway security and Government Railway Police (GRP) functioning during his visit to the GRP Headquarters in Jammu.

Addressing the officers, DGP Swain highlighted the need to identify deficient capabilities, especially at the supervisory level, and urged officers to address these gaps through technology and intelligence gathering. He emphasized the importance of delving deeper into past incidents, understanding the present status, and identifying individuals involved.

DGP Swain encouraged officers to cultivate a curiosity for exploring all possibilities in investigations and advised the smart use of technology such as the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) for effective searches. He particularly stressed the reinforcement of access control at railway stations and their peripheries to prevent the transportation of weapons, explosives, or narcotics.

During the meeting, ADGP Railways Shri Sunil Kumar presented a detailed overview, highlighting the roles of various forces, including GRP, RPF, Police, CAPFs, and private agencies. Discussions included duties and responsibilities of stakeholders, administrative and structural setup of GRP, and the security plan for the Katra Banihal Section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line.

The DGP, after the review, planted a sapling in the lawns of the GRP Headquarters. The meeting was attended by ADGP Railways Sunil Kumar, DIG Railways Shri Haseeb-ur-Rehman, DIG Traffic Shri Shridhar Patil, SSsP of GRP Jammu/Kashmir/Katra, and SO to ADGP Railway.
