First Ever 7-aSide Football Tournament Begins at the Campus
Delina Baramulla: The Sports Committee of the North Campus of Kashmir University is organizing a 7-a side inter-department football tournament at the Upper-Delina Campus of the University. More than eight teams from different departments of the Campus are participating in the four-day long tournament. Director North Campus, Dr. Sheikh Gh Mohammed inaugurated the tournament.
In his inaugural remarks, Dr.Sheikh Gh Mohammad reiterated his commitment to providing all necessary support for the conduct of co-curricular activities at the Campus to combat mental stress, drug addiction and growing scale of aggressive driving tendencies among youth. He said, “ I congratulate the Sports Committee for organizing this 7-a side football tournament titled RABONA-2024. I am sure this will bring a new spirit and enthusiasm to our students in their preparations for the upcoming examination and also destress them and in beating the cold.” Dr.Sheikh further stated that “ North Campus has many issues in sports infrastructure and all the best possible efforts shall be made to upgrade our sports infrastructure.In fact, I would stress on this thing that sports provides solution to most of our issues pertaining to mental, physical and mental well-being.” The Director also announced that the Campus NSS committee will organize “ Beat the Cold Campaign” soon.
Convener Sports, Dr. Mohammad Ameen Parray, while briefing the Campus officials and students present on the occasion, said, “ We are going to have a series of sports events before the winter vacations and RABONA-2024 is the beginning of this series.” He said, “ I am sure our students will have a lot of fun and such an event will add to their motivation for better and higher level competitions.” He announced that “ Immediately after RABONA 2024 football tournament, we will move to cricket, volley ball, TT and kho kho tournaments at the Campus.”
Members of the organizing committee present on the occasion included Dr. Viqar un Nisa, Dr.Faruq Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Sajjad Dar and Fayaz Ahmad Dar. Noted academics who graced the inaugural session included Dr. Faisal Qadir, Mr. Bilal Ahmad Kaloo, Dr.Bilal Ahmad and many others.
Director North Campus wished the opening contestants all the best and declared the tournament open.
