Srinagar, August 17(BuzzBytes): Spearheading efforts in the realm of women’s empowerment, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Minister of State and Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, took the helm of the inaugural ceremony for a two-day program titled ‘Capacity Building for Women Managers in Higher Education.’ The event, graced by Dr. Andrabi as the Chief Guest, was orchestrated by the Institute of Advanced Studies (Government College of Education) Srinagar. Alongside Dr. Andrabi were esteemed individuals including Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, Prof. Neelofar Khan; Prof. Emeritus and Renowned Educationist, Prof. Pam Rajput; Director of Colleges, Prof. Yasmeen Ashai; and Principal of the Institute, Prof. Seema Naaz. The event drew luminaries from the Higher Education Institutes of Kashmir Division and distinguished women educationists.

In her impassioned address, Dr. Andrabi highlighted the transformative era that has dawned for women, enabling them to reclaim their rightful stature after centuries of challenges. “Women are innate leaders. India stands out on the global stage, experiencing an unprecedented surge in women’s prominence. We boast the highest number of Women Vice Chancellors in esteemed Indian Universities. The Director of AIIMS Delhi is a woman. Notably, the Board of Directors for the Chandrayaan-3 Mission includes accomplished women. Indian women are now at the forefront, both domestically and globally,” Dr. Andrabi expressed with conviction.

She emphasized the paradigm shift in contemporary India, where gender-based disparities in appointing women leaders in education have been eradicated, ushering in an era of equal opportunities across all spheres of life. Dr. Andrabi further asserted, “Initiatives for capacity building play a pivotal role in nurturing confidence among women leaders, empowering them to harness their full potential. In Jammu & Kashmir, the era of sidelining capable women has ended, and they are now being equitably provided with opportunities to excel in their respective domains of responsibility.”

Dr. Andrabi commended the organizers for their crucial role in bolstering the morale of women leaders and managers within the higher education sector. She highlighted the significance of this initiative in fortifying the trajectory of women’s achievements and contributions.
