BuzzBytes Srinagar, December 27:
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, visited Frisal Kulgam to enquire about the health of party veteran Habibullah Wani. While on the visit, he addressed questions from the media and urged Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to take concrete steps to ensure justice for the civilian killings in Poonch.
Accompanied by senior party leaders Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larm, and Peerzada Faroz Ahmad, Dr. Farooq emphasized that dialogue is the only way forward to resolve lingering issues. He expressed concern that without a conducive atmosphere for dialogue between India and Pakistan, J&K might face a situation similar to Gaza, resulting in the suffering of the people.
Reiterating the Prime Minister’s stance on the inevitability of dialogue, Dr. Farooq quoted PM Modi’s acknowledgment that war is not an option. He called for a response to voices of dialogue from Pakistan, citing the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s view that friends can be changed but not neighbors.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah addressed those claiming an end to militancy, emphasizing that it would persist until a conducive environment for talks is established.
In a separate development, Youth National Conference Provincial President (Jammu) Ajaz Jan visited the families affected by the recent Poonch encounter. Expressing condolences, he assured support and the party’s commitment to stand by them during this challenging time. Ajaz Jan called for a transparent judicial inquiry to investigate the incident, ensuring swift justice, and demanded compensation and government jobs for the affected families.
