Srinagar, November 20 — Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, marked the inauguration of the new office of the Human Rights Judicial Protection Council (HRJPC) in Srinagar today, aiming to provide essential social justice protections to marginalized sections of society.
Shabnum Mehraj, representing the IHRJPC Kashmir Chapter, also graced the occasion, emphasizing the Council’s commitment to delivering social justice.
In addition to inaugurating the council’s office, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi spearheaded a blood donation camp and distributed blankets among the needy, furthering the spirit of humanitarian aid.
During her address, Dr. Andrabi underscored the fundamental importance of social service for public welfare. Acknowledging the government’s efforts in serving the people, she highlighted the significant role played by volunteers in enhancing social welfare initiatives. Emphasizing her deep involvement in social service initiatives, she urged a broader scale of involvement of youth in volunteer services.
Applauding the proactive participation of J&K’s youth in various public welfare initiatives, she raised concern about the alarming issue of drug addiction among the youth and revealed the Waqf Board’s plans to establish a Drug De-Addiction Centre for Girls in Srinagar.
Dr. Andrabi concluded the event by honoring and appreciating numerous volunteers for their substantial contributions to society’s well-being.
