Chairman of DDC Kupwara Takes Stock of Jal Jeevan Mission and Power Infrastructure

Kupwara, November 20 — Irfan Sultan Panditpuri, Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC) in Kupwara, presided over a crucial meeting at Handwara to assess the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and evaluate the power scenario in the Handwara sub-division.

Attended by ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir, DDC Members from Rajwar/Mawar/Nutnussa, and officials from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power Development Department (PDD), the meeting extensively discussed the status of various ongoing water supply schemes across different areas within the Handwara PHE division.

The Chairman of the DDC urged the concerned officials to expedite the pending works under JJM, emphasizing the program’s ambitious goal of ensuring access to potable tap water for every household. He stressed the need for accelerating completion to ensure maximum benefits to the community.

The meeting also addressed issues related to transformers, with the Chairman directing PDD engineers to prioritize the repair or replacement of damaged transformers during the winter season within the specified timeline. The objective is to prevent any disruption in power supply and mitigate inconvenience for residents.

ADC Nazir Ahmad Mir emphasized the importance of heightened dedication and coordination among officials. He highlighted the need to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, particularly during the upcoming winter season, urging officers to work collaboratively to meet the needs of the local population.
