Srinagar, September 29: On the eve of Eid-e Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), the sound of nightlong prayers and supplications echoed through the Kashmir Valley in celebration of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
This cherished annual observance, falling on the 12th of Rabi ul Awal in the Islamic calendar, brought together thousands of devout individuals, uniting them in both reverence and joy.
The main nightlong congregation took place at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar, drawing crowds of men, women, and children who came to participate in collective prayers. Their aim was to catch a glimpse of the relic of the Prophet of Islam (SAW), displayed after the morning (Fajr) prayers.
Witnesses recounted emotional scenes during the presentation of the holy relic. Devotees shed tears, recited verses from the Quran, and sought blessings from Allah.
Shortly after the “Fajr” namaz, the first prayer of the day, a religious leader unveiled the “Moie-e-Muqadas” (Holy Relic) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) before the devout worshipers at the Hazratbal shrine.
The city of Srinagar, including its markets and buildings, was adorned with radiant displays of colorful lights and banners, conveying messages commemorating Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Sallallahu-o-Alaihe Wa Aalehe Wassallum.
For two days at the shrine and the following Friday, devotees will have the privilege of glimpsing the holy relic after every prayer.
Nightlong prayers were conducted at various shrines and mosques across the Kashmir valley, including Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA), Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA), and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).
Shrine administrations ensured that devotees could view the Holy Relic after each prayer throughout the day.
To cater to the faithful, a comprehensive set of arrangements was put in place, covering transportation, water, medical facilities, and electricity. Vendors also set up stalls outside the shrines, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
In other parts of the valley, speakers at these events illuminated various facets of the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), fostering a deeper understanding among those in attendance.
