In a landmark decision, the Union Cabinet has granted approval for the establishment of ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ (MY Bharat) as an autonomous body dedicated to youth development and youth-led progress. This comprehensive, technologically driven framework is set to transform the aspirations of India’s youth into a reality, thereby contributing to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ or a developed India across all government sectors.
Under the leadership of Union Minister Anurag Thakur, MY Bharat aims to create a holistic government platform for youth development. This initiative was announced following the remarkable success of India’s athletes at the Asian Games, where they secured the highest number of medals in history.
MY Bharat’s primary objective is to act as a bridge between the government and the nation’s youth, empowering them to become community change agents and builders of the nation. It seeks to harness the immense energy of India’s youth and channel it towards nation-building activities.
Key Highlights of the ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ Initiative:
- Leadership Development: The program will focus on improving the leadership skills of young individuals through experiential learning, encouraging them to become social innovators and community leaders.
- Youth-Led Development: The initiative shifts the focus of the government to making youth active drivers of development rather than passive recipients.
- Alignment with Aspirations: MY Bharat strives to align the aspirations of the youth with the needs of the community, ensuring that their energy is channeled effectively.
- Efficiency through Convergence: The initiative will streamline existing youth-related programs, resulting in enhanced efficiency.
- Centralized Youth Database: MY Bharat will create a centralized youth database to ensure better coordination and resource allocation.
- Improved Communication: Two-way communication between the youth and government initiatives, as well as other stakeholders engaging with the youth, will be improved.
- Physical Ecosystem: The initiative will work to make opportunities more accessible to the youth by creating a physical ecosystem.
This transformative body will be dedicated to the nation on October 31, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It marks a crucial step in harnessing the potential of India’s 40 crore youth population, providing them with equitable access and the tools needed to contribute to the nation’s progress.
The ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ initiative has received widespread appreciation from the youth of India, who see it as a significant step towards empowering them to shape their own futures and the future of the nation. The portal is set to be unveiled on October 31, a day that symbolizes unity and the promise of a brighter India.

This initiative also holds the potential to address critical issues such as the drug menace and radicalism in states like Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. By engaging youth in positive activities and providing them with opportunities, MY Bharat can play a crucial role in eradicating these societal challenges.
The youth of India extend their heartfelt thanks to Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur for spearheading this initiative, which holds the promise of transforming their aspirations into reality and making them active participants in the nation’s development journey.
