In a significant stride towards fostering economic independence, the District Employment and Counseling Centre (DECC) in Pulwama distributed 13 small commercial vehicles and 01 Passenger Vehicle under the Mumkin scheme at the District Administrative Complex Pulwama today.
The inauguration ceremony, graced by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom (IAS), witnessed the presence of SSP Pulwama, Yousuf Chaudhary, AD Employment, Hafsa Qayoom, and Lead District Manager. Deputy Commissioner Pulwama handed over the keys to the beneficiaries, marking a pivotal moment in the efforts to provide sustainable livelihoods to unemployed youth in the transport sector.
The Mumkin scheme, a part of the Mission Youth programme, is crafted to empower unemployed youth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Under this initiative, small commercial vehicles receive a 20 percent subsidy on the on-road price, jointly funded by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Vehicle Manufacturers.
To date, 266 cases have been approved under the Mumkin Scheme in Pulwama district. The distribution of 143 small commercial vehicles on various occasions has already positively impacted the lives of beneficiaries, enabling them to establish themselves in the transport sector and earn a livelihood.
The District administration’s concerted efforts, exemplified by the proactive approach in the Mumkin scheme, underscore a commitment to shaping Pulwama into a hub of economic opportunity and prosperity. This initiative stands as a testament to the Government’s dedication to holistic development, with employment generation at the forefront of its transformative vision
