Jammu, Feb 12:Union Secretary, Sports, Sujata Chuturvedi, and Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, co-chaired an Executive Committee level meeting today to assess the preparations for the upcoming Khelo India Winter Games 2024. The games are scheduled to take place from 21st February to 25th February in Gulmarg.The meeting, attended by various key officials and representatives, focused on several crucial aspects of the event, including venue preparation, infrastructure development, participant registration, promotional activities, media planning, and other related matters.Addressing the officials, Union Secretary Sujata Chuturvedi emphasized the significance of meticulous planning and seamless coordination to ensure the success of the Khelo India Winter Games. She called upon the organizers to enhance the overall experience for athletes and spectators through innovative strategies, elevating the standard of the games and maximizing their impact on the sporting landscape.Chuturvedi stressed the importance of putting all required arrangements in place well in advance for the successful conduct of the games. She also highlighted the need to categorize dining places and other areas to facilitate athletes and provide logical support.The Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, remarked that Gulmarg is emerging as the Winter Sports Capital of India, emphasizing the need to follow technical protocols to professionalize the games. He commended the preparations and stressed the importance of addressing any concerns beforehand.During the meeting, Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, presented a detailed overview of the preparations, emphasizing the arrangements made for accommodation, transportation, catering, and other essential facilities for the athletes. It was also noted that help desks have been established at various locations to facilitate visitors and athletes.Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed, provided information about medical facilities, including ambulances, specialist doctors, critical care services, and chopper services in case of emergencies.Representatives from various agencies, including the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Indian Olympic Association, contributed valuable inputs for the smooth conduct of the Khelo India Winter Games. The Chief Secretary urged the Director of Information to launch a dedicated campaign for the event’s publicity and utilize social media for the same, expressing confidence in delivering a world-class sporting spectacle.
