Former DC Office Official Sentenced to 3 Years Imprisonment in Corruption Case

BuzzBytes Srinagar, Dec 19: In a significant development, the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court, Jammu, has handed down a three-year prison sentence to Nasir Khan, the former SO Planning of DC Office Jammu. The conviction is a result of a disproportionate assets case under the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006.

The court, in line with the Supreme Court’s directive, imposed a fine of Rs 50 lakh on Khan. Failure to pay the fine within two months will result in recovery by the District Collector from Khan’s disproportionate assets.

The case, stemming from FIR No. 05/2007 PS VOJ (now ACB Jammu), revealed that Khan, during his tenure as SO Planning, amassed substantial assets through corrupt practices and abuse of his official position. The disproportionate assets were estimated to be Rs 84,90,523.

The severity of the sentence reflects the court’s commitment to justice, with the SSP Anti-corruption Bureau, Jammu, tasked with overseeing the execution of the verdict. This case underscores the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and uphold the principles of transparency and accountability in public service.
