BuzzBytes Budgam, February 17: In an impactful initiative, the NSS volunteers of Government Degree College (GDC) Khansahib conducted a door-to-door awareness campaign as part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ (NMBA) in various villages of Tehsil Khansahib. The campaign aimed to educate communities about the perils of drug abuse and its consequences.Under the patronage of Principal Dr. Nargis Bano, the NSS volunteers engaged with residents in villages including Kremshore, Chak Shera, Kachwari, Raiyar, Lanoora, Bugroo, Draygam, and more. The volunteers equipped themselves with a well-drafted open-ended questionnaire, facilitating meaningful interactions during the campaign.Despite initial reluctance from some individuals to share information due to social stigma, the volunteers successfully engaged with drug addicts. These interactions revealed diverse reasons for addiction, ranging from peer pressure and relationship breakdowns to a lack of entertainment and misuse of social media. The campaign focused on familiarizing the dependent population with drug de-addiction centers and helpline facilities. Parents were urged to create a stress-free environment for their children, encouraging open communication. Spending quality time with their wards was emphasized as a way to foster an environment where individuals can freely express themselves and share their feelings. This door-to-door campaign by GDC Khansahib NSS volunteers exemplifies a proactive approach in addressing the critical issue of drug abuse at the grassroots level. The efforts undertaken contribute to building awareness, breaking down social barriers, and providing necessary information and support for those affected by substance misuse.
