Mission Vatsalya: Sensitization and Training Program on Juvenile Justice Held at Mominabad Court Complex

Srinagar, February 17:A comprehensive sensitization cum capacity building program focused on the ‘Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 and Mission Vatsalya Scheme’ took place today at the ADR Centre, District Court Complex Mominabad, Srinagar.The event was meticulously organized by the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Srinagar, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, Department of Labour, Srinagar, and Department of Police, Srinagar.The distinguished gathering included Dr. Mukhtar, District Social Welfare Officer; Jahangir Ahmed Bakshi, Secretary DLSA Srinagar; Dy.SP (Headquarter, Srinagar), Syed Sleet Shah; Assistant Labour Commissioner, Arshid Ahmed; Nuzhat Un Nissa, CWC, Member; Chairman of Kashmir Concern (NGO), Dr Touseef; officials of the District Child Protection Unit Srinagar, Member of JJB, officials of DLSA, Srinagar, Owners/Managers of Placement agencies, officials of NGOs, and paralegal volunteers of the DLSA Srinagar.The primary objective of the program was to enhance the capacity for the effective implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 and Child Labour Laws.Addressing the gathering, the District Social Welfare Officer emphasized the necessity of raising awareness about the rights and protection of children, especially those involved in conflict with the law or in need of care and protection. Compliance with the legal framework outlined in various child welfare legislations was stressed for the proper safeguarding of children.The Secretary of DLSA Srinagar underscored the significance of inter-agency collaboration in ensuring the well-being of children. Participants were urged to work collectively to create a protective environment for children, ensuring access to justice for those in conflict with the law. The role of legal services institutions in this regard was highlighted.Dy.SP Headquarter, Srinagar highlighted the critical role of the police in combating child trafficking and child labor, emphasizing the urgent need to address these heinous crimes. The pivotal responsibility of the police in protecting vulnerable children and ensuring their well-being was underscored.The Assistant Labour Commissioner outlined initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing child labor, ensuring access to education and healthcare for all children. Participants were encouraged to play an active role in promoting compliance with labor laws and protecting children’s rights.The CWC Member emphasized the significance of the Child Welfare Committee in safeguarding children’s rights. Combating these crimes was acknowledged to require a multi-faceted approach, involving law enforcement, prevention efforts, and community engagement.Both DCPO Srinagar and DLSA Srinagar expressed their unwavering commitment to continue collaborating, with the shared goal of strengthening child protection systems in the district. Their joint efforts aim to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
