Srinagar, Sep 07 (Buzzbytes) – The Government of India has taken a significant step by authorizing the creation of 94 faculty positions and 244 non-faculty positions for the forthcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Awantipora, Kashmir.

The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has issued an official directive, confirming the establishment of these roles for AIIMS Awantipora.

According to the directive, the President of India has granted approval for the establishment of these positions under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

The Ministry’s order includes the creation of two positions each for professors and additional professors, along with five positions for associate professors and 85 positions for assistant professors.

Among the 244 non-faculty positions, 100 are designated for nursing officers (Staff Nurse Grade II) at Level-7, while 50 positions each are allocated for senior residents and junior residents.

It is emphasized in the directive that these positions should only be filled once the necessary infrastructure is in place. Furthermore, strict adherence to approved recruitment rules and uniformity in pay scale and grade levels for similar roles are mandated to avoid any potential complications or legal issues in the future.

As previously reported by Buzzbytes, the Government of India had appointed Lt. General Dr. Anup Banerji, a retired senior medical officer from the Army, as the initial executive director in June 2022. However, his non-acceptance of the role prompted the government to initiate a fresh selection process in February of this year to fill this crucial administrative position. (Buzzbytes)
