Government Initiates Search for New SKIMS Director, Calls for Applications

Srinagar, Dec 15 – In a recent development, the Jammu and Kashmir government has commenced the selection process for the appointment of the director at SKIMS Soura, issuing an official notification to invite applications for the coveted position.

As per the notification obtained by Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the selected candidate will serve on a tenure basis for a maximum period of five years or until reaching the age of 65, whichever comes first. Importantly, this appointment will not impact the retirement age of other faculty members or staff within the Institute, the notification clarified.

The governing body of SKIMS will serve as the appointing authority for the director’s post, according to the notification. Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Koul, the current director appointed on December 31, 2021, is slated to retire by the end of February next year.

This move signals a crucial phase in the leadership transition at SKIMS, a renowned medical institute in the region, as the government actively seeks a qualified individual to take on the responsibilities of the directorship.
