Iqball Ahmad 22 November 2023:

In a relentless pursuit to curb terrorism, the government of India has launched a sweeping operation in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the seizure of more than 500 properties linked to terrorists, terror sympathizers, and Over-Ground Workers (OGWs). The multifaceted initiative involves various government agencies, including the National Investigative Agency (NIA), State Investigative Agency (SIA), State Investigation Unit (SIU), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The primary objective, as stated by the government, is to dismantle the terror ecosystem, with the belief that this strategic move will bring an end to the prevailing terrorism in the Valley. The seized properties, collectively worth hundreds of crores, are spread across different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to official sources within the Jammu and Kashmir government, these properties are associated with individuals identified as terrorists, their sympathizers, and OGWs. This comprehensive approach underscores the commitment to not only targeting those directly involved in terrorist activities but also disrupting the support network that enables such actions.
The government’s scope extends beyond its borders, with approximately 4,200 terrorists residing in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) listed as “proclaimed offenders.” These individuals have been identified by the government of India, and efforts are underway to attach their properties. The Inspector-General of Registrations and Revenue has received a detailed list of these terrorists, spanning three decades, residing in PoK. The revenue department is poised to ensure that these properties remain untouched, neither sold nor purchased by any party.
Notably, the recent actions by the Jammu and Kashmir Police include attaching properties of individuals found guilty of willingly providing shelter to terrorists. This signifies a holistic approach to addressing terrorism, encompassing not only the perpetrators but also those aiding and abetting such activities.
Among the properties seized are those belonging to prominent figures within the United Jihad Council, including Saeed Salauddin and his son. Additionally, the residence of Mushtaq Zargar, released in exchange for hostages from IC-814, has also been confiscated.
As the government intensifies its efforts, the implications of this crackdown are expected to reverberate through the region, signaling a strong stance against terrorism and its support networks. The intricate coordination among various agencies demonstrates a unified approach to address the complex challenges posed by terrorism in the region.
The government’s resolute commitment to eradicating the terror infrastructure, as reflected in the seizure of properties, underscores a proactive strategy aimed at creating a secure and stable environment in Jammu and Kashmir. The coming days will likely witness further developments as authorities continue their all-out war against terrorism, with a focus on dismantling the very foundation that sustains such activities.
