The Qamariya Stadium echoed with cheers as the Football Tournament organized by Ganderbal Police under its Civic Action Program reached its pinnacle with a Grand Finale between Hyderia FC Tulamulla and Shalbugh Football Community. In a closely contested match, Shalbugh Football Community emerged victorious with a scoreline of 2:1, securing the championship title.
The Grand Finale, graced by the presence of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS and Dy.SP Hqr’s Ganderbal Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS, was a testament to the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie. SSP Ganderbal commended all participating teams, emphasizing the significance of sports like football in fostering a healthy mindset among the youth. Special congratulations were extended to both teams for reaching the pinnacle of the tournament.
This marked the successful conclusion of the 2nd edition of the football tournament organized by Ganderbal Police for two consecutive years. The tournament kicked off on November 14, 2023, witnessing the participation of eight teams from different areas of the district. The enthusiastic engagement of the teams reflected the community’s fervor for sports.
Ganderbal Police, committed to promoting sports and co-curricular activities, organized various events, including volleyball tournaments, football competitions, and other activities. The initiative aimed at uplifting the spirit of sportsmanship among the youth while fostering values of brotherhood, love, and peace. The event witnessed the presence of officers from both the Civil and Police Departments, along with enthusiastic spectators who added to the vibrant atmosphere. At the conclusion of the final match, an award ceremony was conducted, where SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS presented trophies, cash rewards, and uniforms to both the winner, Shalbugh Football Community, and the runner-up, Hyderia FC Tulamulla.
