The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a remarkable victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections, securing an unprecedented majority in the 70-member assembly. The electoral results have reshaped Delhi’s political landscape, with the BJP winning 48 seats, marking its highest-ever tally in the national capital’s assembly elections.
The election results showed significant shifts in voting patterns across Delhi’s diverse constituencies. The BJP secured approximately 48.6% of the total vote share, a substantial increase from previous elections. This translated into victories in both traditional strongholds and areas where the party historically faced challenges. In East Delhi, the BJP demonstrated remarkable strength by getting vote shares ranging from around 45% to 52% across different constituencies. In Central Delhi, the BJP’s symbolic victories in constituencies like Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazar. These wins in historically significant areas of Delhi added particular significance to the party’s overall victory. The election also saw record voter turnout, with approximately 73.8% of eligible voters participating in the democratic process. This high turnout was observed across all segments of society, with particularly strong participation from women voters, who constituted around 52% of the total turnout.
Youth participation was another significant factor, with first-time voters showing strong support for the BJP. The 18-25 age group recorded a turnout of approximately 71% indicating high political engagement among young voters. The victory margins in many constituencies were substantial, with several BJP candidates winning by approximately more than 30,000 votes. The average victory margin across all winning seats was approximately 18,500 votes, indicating clear voter preference for the party’s candidates and policies.
In terms of vote share distribution, the party showed consistent performance across different parts of Delhi. The approximate highest vote share was recorded in North Delhi at 51.2%, followed by East Delhi at 49.8%, South Delhi at 48.7%, West Delhi at 47.5%, and Central Delhi at 46.2%. The election results also indicated strong support from different economic sections. The party secured approximately 45% support from voters aged 18-25, 49% from the 26-40 age group, and 51% from voters above 40 years.
