The hostages, held by Hamas for 52 days, were identified from five families, including the Cunio family, Engel family, Calderon family, Yaakov family, and Yahalomi family. The release involved a total of 33 Palestinian civilians, emphasizing the commitment to diplomacy and de-escalation.

“According to the information provided by the Red Cross, 11 Israeli hostages are on their way to Israeli territory,” stated the IDF, acknowledging the successful implementation of the truce agreement.

The released Israeli hostages include Sharon Aloni Cunio (33), Emma Cunio (3), Yuli Cunio (3), Karina Engel-Bart (51), Mika Engel (18), Yuval Engel (10), Ronel Engel, Sahar Calderon (16), Erez Calderon (12), Or Yaakov (16), Yagil Yaakov (12), and Eita Yahalomi (12). However, some family members still remain in Hamas captivity.

White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored, particularly regarding any Americans among the released hostages. “We’re going to watch this very closely. We’re certainly hoping that another batch of hostages gets released today as part of the fourth and final day of the original agreement,” Kirby stated.

The exchange serves as a critical diplomatic breakthrough, demonstrating a commitment to conflict resolution and diplomatic initiatives in the region. The international community continues to closely observe the evolving situation.
