HANDWARA:As part of the Public Outreach Programme, Handwara Police observed “Thana Diwas” today across all Police Establishments in the Police District, fostering direct engagement with the community.

Under the guidance of SSP Handwara, the events were chaired by Police officers, with DySP Dar Handwara leading the function at PS Qalamabad. The meetings witnessed the participation of DDCs, BDCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs, and the general public. SHOs of the respective Police Stations, along with other officers and officials, were also present during these occasions.

A significant number of residents participated in the events, highlighting various issues of public importance. They were assured that genuine grievances related to the Police would be addressed promptly, while concerns involving civil administration would be taken up with the relevant departments for early redressal.

The Chairing Officers emphasized the revamping of grassroots-level policing to enhance the proficiency of the police force and instill confidence among the public. They reiterated that “Thana Diwas” is a government initiative to bridge the gap between the Police and the public, emphasizing the importance of community policing in boosting public confidence and combating crime and social issues.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairing Officers stressed the need for a missionary spirit to fight against drug abuse and eradicate social evils. Participants were urged to cooperate with the Police in maintaining law and order, identifying Anti-National and Anti-Social Elements that aim to disrupt the peaceful environment.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from both sides, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the community and the police for a safer and more secure environment in Handwara.
