94,680 Youth Embark on Entrepreneurial Journey in a Single Day
BuzzByte Srinagar :J&K 24 Jan 2024:Jammu and Kashmir achieved a groundbreaking milestone as 94,680 youth were provided with entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities in a historic event presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The event, held at the Convention Centre just days before the 75th Republic Day, marked a transformative leap in the UT’s economic landscape.During the function, LG Manoj Sinha congratulated Jammu Kashmir Bank for its proactive efforts in strengthening the spirit of Ghar Ghar KCC Abhiyaan and Swarozgar Utsav. These ongoing campaigns are strategically aimed at the financial empowerment of farmers and the youth, reflecting a commitment to inclusive economic growth.Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating, “Today, J&K creates a new record by distributing sanction letters to set up new units and startups that will fulfill dreams of youth and their aspiration of being a job creator and not a job seeker.” He emphasized the pivotal role of J&K Bank as the common man’s bank, contributing significantly to the betterment of the people.The Swarozgar Utsav, covering all Panchayats of J&K UT, showcased the distribution of sanction letters for new units and startups, with J&K Bank committing Rs. 1384 Crore for this purpose. LG Sinha outlined the commitment to providing training and supportive infrastructure for sustainable employment generation in these newly established units.The LG also lauded the achievements under the Ghar-Ghar KCC Abhiyaan, highlighting that around 2 Lakh farmers were provided with Kisan Credit Cards, ensuring improved access to reliable, adequate, and affordable credit. He recognized the emergence of a new revolution in the Agriculture & Allied Sector, constructing pathways for the prosperity of Jammu Kashmir.Appreciating J&K Bank’s contributions to social development projects under its CSR initiatives, LG Manoj Sinha emphasized the scope for input credit in Agriculture and MSME sectors. He directed J&K Bank to achieve saturation in Ghar Ghar KCC Abhiyaan, Stand-Up India, and Startups.The LG expressed high expectations from J&K Bank, urging the bank to devise campaigns for widespread financial literacy programs. He emphasized the role of banks, especially J&K Bank, in ensuring economic needs of farmers, youth, and women are met with people-friendly schemes aimed at creating employment and livelihood opportunities.During the event, LG Manoj Sinha handed over Insurance Claim Settlement cheques to the legal heirs of deceased Government Employees covered under the Bank’s Group Personal Accidental Insurance. Successful entrepreneurs and farmers financed by the Bank were also felicitated.The Lt Governor launched the Kisan Sathi Chatbot, an AI-based farmer-friendly application developed by the Agriculture Production Department.
