Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, asserting that India, powered by the strength of its 1.4 billion people, is leading the global transformation driven by artificial intelligence.
Welcoming world leaders, industry captains, innovators, policymakers and researchers to the summit, themed “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya — Welfare for All, Happiness for All,” the Prime Minister said the theme reflects India’s commitment to harnessing AI for human-centric progress and inclusive development.
In his address, Modi highlighted AI’s transformative impact across healthcare, education, agriculture, governance and enterprise, and expressed confidence that the summit’s deliberations would enrich global discourse on innovation, collaboration and the responsible use of AI.
The Prime Minister said India’s leadership in AI rests on three pillars: a strong digital public infrastructure, a vibrant startup ecosystem and cutting-edge research capabilities. “Our strides in AI reflect both ambition and responsibility, positioning India at the vanguard of technological advancement,” he said.
“The 1.4 billion people of India are our greatest strength. Our progress in AI is powered by our demographic dividend and our unwavering commitment to using technology for the betterment of humanity,” Modi added.
In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister said the summit aims to bring together global stakeholders to shape the future of AI.
“Starting today, India hosts the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. I warmly welcome world leaders, captains of industry, innovators, policymakers, researchers and tech enthusiasts from across the world,” he wrote.
He added that AI is transforming multiple sectors and that the summit would deepen discussions on innovation, collaboration and responsible use. “I am confident that the outcomes of the Summit will help shape a future that is progressive, innovative and opportunity-driven,” Modi said.
Reiterating India’s position, the Prime Minister concluded: “Thanks to the 1.4 billion people of India, our nation stands at the forefront of the AI transformation. From digital public infrastructure to a vibrant startup ecosystem and cutting-edge research, our strides in AI reflect both ambition and responsibility.”
