Speaking at IIT-BHU Global Alumni Meet in Chicago, Lieutenant Governor says last six years have been extraordinary for development, pays tribute to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, calls for ethical, human-centred growth of Artificial Intelligence
Chicago/Srinagar, Sep 08 (BuzzBytes): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said the abrogation of Article 370 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed the destiny of Jammu and Kashmir, and that the last six years have been of extraordinary significance for the region’s development, with Jammu and Kashmir moving from the shadow of fear to the light of opportunity, from isolation to integration, and from despair to hope and a future.
Addressing the IIT (BHU) Global Alumni Meet in Chicago, Illinois, the Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, highlighting his role in promoting engineering education and India’s industrial development, and said Malaviya’s ideas and vision continue to inspire new generations to advance technology, strengthen the economy and serve society.
During his address, Sinha spoke at length on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence, saying the combination of human capability and machine intelligence could become an important vehicle for economic growth in the future, but stressed that the development of AI must proceed under the principles of ethics, fundamental human values and strict human oversight, so that the direction of technology is determined with the welfare of humanity in mind and its benefits reach every section of society.
The Lieutenant Governor said a new India is emerging — one that is strong within, confident in the world outside, and ready to play its role in shaping the future of humanity. He said India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, is strengthening its position globally and preparing itself for leadership in the future, moving rapidly towards technological leadership even as social welfare initiatives continue.
Referring to the changes in Jammu and Kashmir over recent years, Sinha reiterated that the region’s development story has emerged as a notable example, repeating that “the abrogation of Article 370 changed the destiny of Jammu and Kashmir, and the last six years have been of extraordinary significance on the front of development.” He said Jammu and Kashmir has moved from the shadow of fear to the light of opportunity, from isolation to integration, and from despair to hope and a future, and that this transformation has opened new avenues for development, investment and employment in the region.
Sinha also referred to Swami Vivekananda’s historic September 11, 1893 address in Chicago and praised the role of IIT (BHU)’s global alumni and the Indian diaspora in the progress of world society, urging alumni to play an active role in India’s economic and civilisational advancement—(BuzzBytes)
