Jammu, February 07: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha laid the foundation stone for the Synthetic Football Turf at Jagti Camp, Nagrota, marking a significant step towards the development of state-of-the-art sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.The Synthetic Football Turf, budgeted at Rs 5.75 crore, will feature a G+1 pavilion with a covered area, boasting a seating capacity of approximately 600 spectators. The facility will also include change rooms and other amenities to enhance the overall sporting experience.In his address, Lt Governor Sinha expressed pride in the achievements of the Kashmiri Pandit community, dedicating the sports project to the youth of the community and acknowledging their substantial contribution to nation-building. He emphasized the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to the welfare of Kashmiri migrant families, evident in the interim budget of Jammu and Kashmir.The Lt Governor urged the youth of the Kashmiri Pandit community to seize diverse opportunities in various sectors and contribute to the vision of a developed India.The Synthetic Football Turf will be developed in accordance with FIFA standards, reflecting the administration’s unwavering dedication to promoting sports in the Union Territory. Additionally, plans for the current fiscal year include the development of an indoor stadium, outdoor gym, and cricket stadium at Jagti, with allocated funds for badminton and volleyball court facilities.Lt Governor Sinha highlighted the administration’s extensive efforts in infrastructure development, completing 702 sports projects, constructing multipurpose indoor sports halls in almost every district, and developing playfields in every panchayat. He emphasized the establishment of international-level sports facilities in Jammu and Srinagar, including Centres of Excellence in Canoeing, Rowing, and Fencing.The Lt Governor reassured the administration’s commitment to supporting budding sports persons and enterprising youth across sectors. Financial assistance for 1049 identified youth is set to be provided by the end of February, with plans to extend support for more youth interested in self-employment ventures.The Lt Governor urged the Kashmiri Pandit community to lead in creating large employment opportunities for local youth, pledging full support from the administration. He also directed the organization of a second leg of the Special Grievance Camp for Kashmiri Migrants in the near future.Senior officials, prominent citizens, sportspersons, and a large audience were present at the foundation stone-laying ceremony.
