Ashraf Raavi said there is a dire need of promoting the Kashmiri language and we should be to inculcate the habit among the children to speak Kashmiri rather than other languages, Learning different languages is appreciable and I am not against learning more and more languages but it must not happen at the cost of abandoning our mother tongue.

Ashraf Raavi’s dedication to the promotion of Kashmiri language and literature has not gone unnoticed. He has been honoured with prestigious awards for his outstanding contributions to the field.

With a number of renowned Kashmiri poets and authors like Amin Kamil, Anwar Shopiani, Ratan Lal emerging from the Shopian district, who reflect a unique style of writing in their poetry blended with the humor, Shopian district has played a pivotal role in the development of Kashmiri literature.
